Wow! Michael, you were spot on!
“Google is a global community, but it seems men in power get the upper hand.”
This is plainly an abuse of power (by men) at Google. Not to forget the LGBT community, were #gaymen subjected to sexual harassment as well? Were #gaywomen subjected to (more) harassment?
We may wonder if sexual harassment is a #learnt behaviour. Were the perpetrators sexually harassed (or bullied) at school and they became sexual bullies as a self-defence mechanism? Maybe they got a power thrill when they sexually harassed other people and kept going when they started work.
When they became adults, did that mechanism morph into sexually intimidating behaviour against women (usually called the weaker sex)? I guess it was a man who came up with the #weakersex description?
How can we stop this? Can we even stop this? How long would it take for genuine changes to take place? Years? Decades?
Can women wait that long — to feel safe?
Do women need to take back their power and speak up? Or do other men need to speak up on behalf of women that they see being sexually harassed (by another co-worker/executive)?
Should Google should be slapped with a $20 million (or more) fine? I’m just pulling out a number from a hat. Elon Musk got fined $20 million. That money could be used to settle claims.
