I’m a writer and I find my sweet spot at midnight or 1–2am when I’ve got a story on my mind. When I used to do office work, I’d get up at 6.30am, get ready and take the train to work. Then back home at the end of the day. I don’t miss those days!
Now that I work for myself, I can be more flexible. I’ve heard of people who’d sit down in front of a typewriter (or their computer) and stare at the blank page for hours.
That tells me their creative juices are not flowing at that time. Why torture yourself (and your family) to keep that schedule if it doesn’t work for you? A wise person would listen to their body. It has a fantastic intelligence. Ask your body, “What do you need to be happy today?” “Do you need more rest?” then go and do that. You’ll be surprise what you can achieve after that.
