It’s obvious that we cannot copy & paste another writer’s strategy and expect to achieve their success. No one really knows the #backstory to their success. Overnight success? It may take two years, five years or more. Each one of those years had their own share of failures and successes.
Shannon Ashley I’ve highlighted a few sections of your post. Like “you need to do the work.” We cannot pay Medium or someone else to write, publish, market, share and promote our work. Even if I had $1million, it would be a waste of money to hire a marketing agency to make me a success on Medium!
Actually the marketing & promotion of our writing requires a different set of skills. In the statistics section of our post, it tells us WHERE the views came from: Google, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or email?
Engagement with our readers is incredibly important. We’re paid to HOLD their attention. They’re paying with their time. They’ve purchased a movie ticket for 4 minutes to read our story. If we fail to hold their attention, they’ll leave quickly. Without any claps, highlights or comments. Gone for ever!
Please get well Shannon, you’re a great writer and this post was a great help. I celebrate what it took for you to become a great writer. It’s an ongoing process.
