Jessica Powell It’s a great opportunity to shine! As well as the short summary of work done for each manager, highlight what you did for them, any special jobs that “saved the day” for them (Hey, got that report you needed for your VIP meeting done on time. High 5 on getting that client/account!) Over time, your manager will come to depend on you to save them another time, and another time.

Come #performancereview time have a list of all the times you did this, they will sign off on it without thinking too much about it because you have made it clear to them every week in your report/timesheet. You’ve become an indispensable member of their team.

Caution: Do the same for the other manager, in a slightly different way that suits their personality and role. Otherwise they may get jealous of all the attention you’re giving the other manager. When it’s time to reduce staff (downsizing?), the manager who needs you MORE could put up a stronger fight to keep you on board.
