Michael R. McBride “Escapism is profoundly underrated…” Many people seek some form of escapism when their life overwhelms them. Stress at work? Stressful relationship or no relationship at all? When we find our life crashing down, what do we reach for? I reach for books, coffee, friends, snacks, hmmm… I love my chocolate. Alcohol, no. However, I do understand that your peers and your environment can be a powerful influence. We do things to fit in. Then like you said, the drink takes you. You’ve lost control.

The problem with alcohol is you forget what you said or did when you were drunk. But other people have long memories. Or if they lied and told you that you did something terribly embarrassing or stupid, how would you know? Just to pull your leg but the idea could stick in your mind and worse, your boss got to hear about it. When they see you with a glass of alcohol in your hand, they’ll look at you and wonder, “Will he…?”

Alcohol mixed with drugs can be lethal. Please check my post about mental health and suicide.
